Missions

The Church of the Nazarene has moved over time from a church with an international presence toward a global community of believers. Grounded in the Wesleyan tradition, Nazarenes understand themselves to be a people who are Christian, holiness, and missional, and they have embraced the mission statement: “To make Christlike disciples in the nations.”

Chris Dewar

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) President at Bethesda

Chris grew up in Portland Oregon. Served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for over 24 years. Chris came to faith in 1993 at the age of 25. He and his wonderful wife Christie of 28 years live in West Sacramento with their two children Christine and Christian. Chris has been active in the Church of the Nazarene since 2007, serving as a Sunday school teacher, small group Bible study leader, and most recently serving in missions. The idea is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by mobilizing our church in missions through prayer, giving, educating, and engaging the congregation, children, and youth.

How can you get Involved?

Alabaster Offering

From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country. If you wan t to participate, take a box home and fill them up with items. Read the instructions on the pamphlet that you will find in the box. Turn them in on November 24th!

We also invite you to our packing party! For this event, we use materials that we have collected all year and pack as many boxes as possible. Save the date for November 23rd at 6:30 PM to pack all these boxes. You are also welcome to bring more items if you would like. Our goal is 200 boxes!
You can pick up a box at the fellowship hall

Angel Tree

Angel Tree Prison Fellowship is a program that connects incarcerated parents with their children through the gift of Christmas presents and letters. It aims to strengthen the bond between parents and their children while providing support to families affected by incarceration. The initiative often includes volunteers who help coordinate gift donations and deliver them to the children, ensuring they feel remembered and loved during the holiday season. It's part of a broader mission to offer hope and support to those impacted by the criminal justice system.

We invite you to join as a volunteer with Angel Tree Prison Fellowship! If you would like to help connect incarcerated parents with their children through gifts and support, you can sign up.
Once you register, we will send you an email to provide more details and formalize your invitation as a volunteer.
We look forward to having you with us!
