Missions

The Church of the Nazarene has moved over time from a church with an international presence toward a global community of believers. Grounded in the Wesleyan tradition, Nazarenes understand themselves to be a people who are Christian, holiness, and missional, and they have embraced the mission statement: “To make Christlike disciples in the nations.”

Chris Dewar

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) President at Bethesda

Chris grew up in Portland Oregon. Served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for over 24 years. Chris came to faith in 1993 at the age of 25. He and his wonderful wife Christie of 28 years live in West Sacramento with their two children Christine and Christian. Chris has been active in the Church of the Nazarene since 2007, serving as a Sunday school teacher, small group Bible study leader, and most recently serving in missions. The idea is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by mobilizing our church in missions through prayer, giving, educating, and engaging the congregation, children, and youth.

How can you get Involved?

Alabaster Offering

The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots."
You can pick an alabaster box in the Fellowship Hall and return them on September 29th

Operation Christmas Child

From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.

Churches and groups of all sizes collect boxes from their communities. Some churches also serve as drop-off locations for shoeboxes the third week of November every year

Thousands of volunteers serve annually inspecting and preparing shoeboxes for international shipping. Every hour work stops for a few minutes to pray for the children who will receive the boxes.

For the month of September, we are collecting: Games
You can drop off al donations in the Fellowship Hall after services

Donate Funds for our Mission in Nicaragua

Bethesda has been helping a church in Nicaragua that has become a church of the Nazarene and we send them funds so they can purchase the equipment the church needs. You can donate online in the Nicaragua Mission Tab. We appreciate the support for this mission!
